The ES9018K2M SABRE32 Reference DAC is a high-performance 32-bit, 2-channel audio D/A converter targeted for audiophile-grade ......... bla bla bla
I listened to it years ago from a friend with great pleasure and now it's here again boxed and assemled yet in a cozy case ready to fix and why not to give it a MaoDiscrete Output!
The very first listening was great yet considering the use of opamp stage at 12V feeding . I found it with a LME49860 which is an outstanding opamp , one of my favorite ....but ...but but.....discrete output has another taste.....it's another league!!!!!!
Then I switched on LT Spice and started to design a simple and efficient output stage fit for this race horse!!!
....the ultimated job!
.... the discrete output stage adopting Jfet for amplification and Bypolar for buffering
....good quality BP cap and polypropylene on signal the same for filtering DAC
.... added an heatsink toLM7805 feeding the receiver module which is so sensitive to fase rotation........
...stoling signal directly from opamp socket ...
....2SK246 Toshiba JFET and the good fellow BC549C which is well known as unbearable in terms of signal/noise rate! Noiseless at all one of the best Philips NPN transistor used for phono stages
.... The sound.....
is great refined and very rich midrange , full of detail never weary or annoying just full of very good details spreaded in a very refined texture! I heard many great devices this one is something different it gives something more that many other 16 or 24 bit .........the 32bit works great in this Sabre!
